Vincenzo

VINCENZO BIZZARRI Was born in Santa Sofia, in the province of Forlì, on September 28, 1960. He started working as an artisan at 20, and has almost fourty years of experience in this field. In the laboratory he’s in charge of prototypes and quality control, but he also teaches our new recruits the craft. “I started with the help of my brother Mario, I owe him everything. He had an armchair factory and asked me if I wanted to work for him. I immediately said yes for two reasons: I liked the idea of working with such a special person and I liked having a job that let me unleash my creativity. Over time, I realized this is a wonderful job, and I’ve continued my joyful journey ever since! Thank you, Mario!”.

Bruno

BRUNO BRIGANTI Was born in Forlimpopoli on April 14, 1963. He builds our prototypes and models, and is charge of the prototypes department. He started in 1986 at 23, right after high school. His father Fausto was already manufacturing sofa components, such as frameworks and paddings. It was an easy choice for him: since the beginning, his degree in surveying and his passion for design and technical drawing led him to work as a prototypes developer. Once he had to take back a sofa because “a customer complained about weird noises. After a first check we noticed something weird too. We took the whole sofa apart and – to our great surprise – we found a lot of building blocks, toy soldiers and toy cars inside. This was where the owners’ son used to hide his treasures. We collected all the toys, put them into an envelope and returned them to the owners together with the “repaired” sofa”. Because putting passion in one’s job is also about things like this.

Franco

FRANCO GEMELLI Was born in Predappio on October 4, 1959. In the laboratory he is in charge of the modelling department and supervises the finished products. He has a full 45-year experience, since he started working as an artisan at 14, right after middle school, in his brother-in-law’s laboratory. “There were only my brother-in-law, my sister and I, so I had to learn quickly. We made the wooden frameworks and the paddings of the sofas and, a few years later, on Saturdays I would go to the laboratory and try to create my own models: some of them entered production, which made me feel extremely proud”. In 1987, he started his own business and had a few employees, then “the birth of Poltronesofà marked something wonderful”.

Andrea

ANDREA GUIDI Was born in Forlì on February 13, 1976: in the laboratory he does a little bit of everything, except sewing. He started working as an artisan at 17, fascinated by his father Tonino’s ability. Tonino – a master artisan as well – would refurbish old chairs and broken sofas everyday after work. “It was nice to see something old and broken come back to life in his hands…”. Among his earliest memories are the first times he put the interlining under the sofas: “my dad would throw a coin on them, and if it didn’t bounce at least twice, the work had to be done again, because the interlining hadn’t been stretched to perfectlion.”

Stefano

STEFANO STROCCHI Was born in Forlì on October 7, 1973. He carried out several activities in the laboratory, and now he is in charge of modelling, in particular of linings and fabrics. “I was 8 when I first set foot in the laboratory with my parents: cutting, sewing, assembling, watching something unique coming to life from scratch immediately won me over, and what used to be a game became a job”. Stefano started working at 15, when school was out and the summer holidays began, and after graduating he embarked on a journey which led him to become one of our prominent artisans. “I will always remember the first model I made: it was an utter disaster, but a masterpiece to me! Many years have gone by, but every time we start a new project, it comes to my mind”.
